GETTING THERE

There are a range of options to access the Deer Lodges, via road, rail, air, bus, car or a combination.

Road – access to the village of Peisey-Nancroix is via Albertville, from which a dual carriageway runs up the valley to within 15 kms of the turn off to the village. The dual carriageway up the valley is a welcome legacy from the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics. On peak Saturdays in the season it can become very congested so it is recommended that visitors vary arrival times where possible to avoid the queues.

Rail – the excellent rail system provides a direct Eurostar train to either Aime or Bourg St Maurice in 8 hours from London Kings Cross as well as TGVs from all over France. Both Bourg St Maurice and Aime are approximately 20 minutes cab ride to Peisey Nancroix. The closest station to Peisey is Landry. You can book the Eurostar to Lille or Paris and then take the TGV as far as Lyon before changing to a local service to Landry. Taxis from Landry to Peisey Nancroix can be booked in advance.

Air – the nearest airport is Chambery, approximately 1 hour away. Grenoble is the next closest and both Lyon and Geneva are just over 2 hours away. Transfers are available via bus, dedicated transfer services or from Geneva by rail to Landry and then a local taxi to the village.

Transfer services – there are a number of transfer services that serve both airports and main stations, www.whiterides.co.uk, www.thecoolbus.co.uk and www.themountainrescue.com
